In cooperation with the ELEDIA LAB of the University of Trento, LEMMA researchers developed an effective approach to the optimal synthesis of phase-only reconfigurable array antennas. The proposed approach deals with both shaped [2] and sum/difference [1],[3] reconfigurable beams generated by either linear or planar equispaced arrays. By exploiting at best the knowledge available in the separate synthesis of each pattern and relying on the multiplicity of solutions which is available in the synthesis of a shaped beam, the achievement of performances close (or equivalent) to the global optimum is often guaranteed.
